Liner notes

To say I didn't know would be a lie. Since four in the morning, it had been rushing in, relentless. So why, knowing all this, did I build it so high? Did I want to watch it crumble? Perhaps I simply wanted to be reckless. I think it was something I needed to cry all out. And the grains of sand left on that shore… they shimmered with a particular light.

Lyrics

It was just one wave. We drifted too far away. Behind the shore where our castle washed away. Fading sand remains.

Unofficial translation — may be inaccurate

Past the long night it comes rushing in, down to where the dark sea begins — on the cold sand, we spoke of love. While the moon, shining without a word, holds the waves in place, the wind that keeps the time says: enough now, go. To the very end I won't let go of your hand. Even as the water rises to my chin, even fully sunk, choking for breath, I can't leave. I can't leave. Stay beside me. Your tomorrow doesn't have me in it, and my reaching hand is foolish. The oncoming waves run high; the castle's sand keeps crumbling. Higher, higher — pile it up again and again, it still returns to the sea. Little by little the waves wash in and wrap around me. To the very end I won't let go of your hand. Even as the water rises to my chin, even fully sunk, choking for breath, I can't leave. I can't leave. Stay beside me. It was just one wave. We drifted too far away. Behind the shore where our castle washed away. Fading sand remains.
